LaPointe Co-Hosts Virtual Panel on “How to Talk to Kids During Times of Fear and Uncertainty”

On November 20, 2025, Representative Lindsey LaPointe co-hosted a virtual panel and discussion — led by Representative Ann Williams, Representative Jaime Andrade, and CPS Board Member Ellen Rosenfeld —  on how parents, teachers, and neighborhood leaders can have difficult conversations about the world with our young ones. As our communities face various threats by the federal government, contributing to so much pain and suffering in our neighborhoods, we’ve seen that many of us are struggling to find the right words in explaining these crises to our children. On “How to Talk to Kids During Times of Fear and Uncertainty,” experts Amber Przybyla, LCPC of Northwestern University, and Dr. Stephanie Torres of UIC, lead a discussion on effective methods of communication and stress management for children.

As we all continue to do the collective work in protecting one another from ICE, coming together to support neighbors vulnerable to food insecurity, and other threats of violence from our federal government, it’s important that we continue to hear our and uplift our youngest voices.
